ChiroThin

Last updated June 25th 2015

ChiroThin is advertised as using drop technology and is part of a doctor-supervised program, however the website does not disclose what ingredients are used in the product.

ChiroThin Pros

  • Comes with a diet plan
  • Can be used alongside a chiropractor-supervised program

ChiroThin Cons

  • Only sold to chiropractors to prescribe to their patients
  • No ingredients list is provided
ChiroThin is a weight loss supplement that uses drop technology and is sold only to chiropractors. It is claimed to help people stop bad habits that lead to them becoming overweight.

The manufacturers of this product claim that it can help you lose between 20-45lbs in 6 weeks and that it can reset both your BMI and your BMR (basal metabolic rate).

ChiroThin is sold as part of a doctor-supervised program, with weekly consultations with a doctor over the course of the six-week ChiroThin program.

The website offers plenty of information about the product and offers clinical studies, but none on the product itself. There is also a lack of information about the product’s ingredients.

ChiroThin Review

In this review of ChiroThin, we will look at how ChiroThin works, its ingredients and clinical studies. We will also examine the possible side-effects of taking ChiroThin. This review should help you decide if ChiroThin is the best product for you.

How Many of The 5 Key Areas of Weight Loss Does ChiroThin Cover?

ChiroThin claims to target three different areas of weight loss: fat burning, appetite suppression and metabolism boosting. The product also works with a diet plan.

Fat burners trigger usually thermogenesis, a natural process that involves temperature being raised and calories being burned following the consumption of food. Having a slow metabolism is said to result in more fat being stored in the body; boosting metabolism means the body uses up stored fat for energy. Appetite suppressants typically trick the brain into thinking the body is full and that you need to eat less often.

Weight loss supplements can be used alongside diet plans, which are specially adapted to work in conjunction with the supplement to help you lose weight. Diet plans generally get you to eat healthier foods more often.

ChiroThin Ingredients

Amino Acids

The website for ChiroThin does not fully disclose what ingredients are included in the product. One ingredient that is included is amino acids, though this can refer to many different substances, so again there is more information required. Amino acids are important organic compounds that have lots of biological roles. There are over 500 different forms of amino acids known to scientists. Amino acids can be found in the form of proteins; in this form, they are the second largest component of human cells, muscles and other tissues, after water. Many amino acids are essential for human development. A third-party website claims that amino acids present in ChiroThin include l-tyrosine and l-carnitine, though this cannot be verified.

How ChiroThin Works

Fat Burning / Binding

The ChiroThin website claims that the product targets fat burning, though it is unclear exactly how the product does this because the list of ingredients is not disclosed. The website does explain, however, that the ChiroThin formula, combined with doctor supervision and the foods recommended as part of the diet, will help your body to burn fat more easily; this should therefore make up for the lack of calories being put into the body because of the very low calorie diet.

Fat Burning / Binding Ingredients

Ingredients Unknown

Appetite Suppression

The ChiroThin website mentions that the product’s proprietary formula is designed to help suppress cravings for food. As ingredients are not revealed, there is no further information available as to how exactly this is meant to work. The website also mentions that you may feel hungry during the first few days of taking ChiroThin, but after that, the product’s ingredients should work effectively enough to stop you feeling hungry, despite the fact that you are on a very low calorie diet.

Appetite Suppression Ingredients

Ingredients Unknown

Metabolism Boosting

It is explained on the ChiroThin website that going on a very low calorie diet can result in the body storing fat and metabolism slowing down. The website claims that the nutritional ingredients in ChiroThin will help the body to metabolise fat more easily, in spite of any low calorie diet. However, the website does not disclose what ingredients in ChiroThin actually contribute to boosting metabolism.

ChiroThin Clinical Studies

Clinical studies determine how safe and effective an individual ingredient or a whole product is. They are carried out by healthcare professionals and scientists. Some are carried out in laboratories, while others involve participants, who are volunteers free to leave the study at any point and for any reason. The ChiroThin website offers links to six different studies on low calorie diets. However, it does not offer any studies to do with any ingredients that might feature in the product itself.

Clinical Studies On Each Ingredient

Clinical studies on amino acids

L-tyrosine is an amino acid that may be an ingredient in ChiroThin. This study was carried out to determine the effects of a supplement on thermogenesis, faecal fat excretion and body fat loss. The supplement used in this study was a combination of caffeine, catechins, capsaicin and tyrosine. It was thought that this supplement could promote lipolysis, thermogenesis and satiety and stimulate the nervous system. There were 80 obese people involved with this study. For the four weeks of the study they were all put on a low calorie diet and those who lost more than 4% of their body weight were then asked to proceed with the main part of the study.

This second part lasted eight weeks. Those who made it to this second part received either a placebo or the supplement. Various measurements, including blood pressure, heart rate, thermogenesis and body weight were tested on the first and last days of the eight week part of the study. The results of the study showed that the supplement was able to increase thermogenesis by 90kJ more than the placebo used in the study. It was found that thermogenesis remained equally increased throughout the course of the eight weeks. By the end of the eight weeks, it was noted that the participants had slight reductions in their body mass. It was concluded that the supplement used in the study may be able to help maintain weight following a low calorie diet. The problem with this study is that tyrosine was not the only ingredient used; the effects noted in the study may well have been caused by the other ingredients and not by tyrosine at all.

This study found that l-carnitine did not have a noticeable effect on metabolism. It specifically looked at the effects of l-carnitine on the energy metabolism of a group of nine people following submaximal exercise. The participants received either l-carnitine or a placebo. They fasted overnight then were subjected to 20 minutes of bicycle exercise; after a resting period of 1-2 hours, they then had 20 minutes more of bicycle exercise at the same rate, then another 20 minutes at a higher rate. This was all designed to have the participants’ glycogen levels be depleted. The results of this study showed that l-carnitine supplementation had no effect on metabolism.

Conversely, this study on l-carnitine produced more positive results. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of l-carnitine on body composition, protein turnover and fat oxidation in a group of participants who were slightly overweight. There were 12 participants involved in the study, which lasted 10 days. Each participant was put on a diet that either contained l-carnitine supplementation or did not. Various measurements were taken and the results from the study showed that l-carnitine supplementation resulted in a significantly increased rate of fat oxidation.

ChiroThin Side Effects

The ChiroThin website does not offer much information about any potential side effects associated with the product or with any of its ingredients. Unfortunately, as mentioned elsewhere in this review, the site does not offer a full ingredients list. It does mention that the product contains amino acids, though it does not mention what amino acids are used. A third-part site offers a list of potential ingredients for ChiroThin; though this list cannot be confirmed, the side effects linked with some of the ingredients will be discussed to give a general idea of the kind of side effects the product may cause.

Side Effects Associated With Each Ingredient

Side Effects Associated with Amino Acids

Some particular amino acids do have some side effects associated with them. These are l-tyrosine and l-carnitine, which a third-party website claims feature in ChiroThin’s formula. While it cannot be confirmed that these particular ingredients are actually in ChiroThin, their side effects will still be discussed. Some of the side effects linked with l-tyrosine include joint pain, nausea, headaches, heartburn and fatigue. It is thought to be possibly safe so long as it is consumed in moderate amounts.

L-carnitine has more associated side effects: it can cause vomiting, stomach upset, nausea, diarrhoea, heartburn and even seizures. Another rather unpleasant side effect of l-carnitine is that it can cause sweat, breath and urine to have a fishy smell. The side effects linked with ChiroThin will, of course, depend on what ingredients are actually in the product, though looking at the side effects linked to these potential ingredients should give you an idea of the sorts of side effects likely to be caused by using this product.

How To Use ChiroThin

The ChiroThin website does not offer any specific usage instructions for ChiroThin. The website does mention that ChiroThin has been specially designed to work alongside the doctor-supervised ChiroThin Weight Loss Program. This program lasts for 6 weeks and has you meet with a supervising doctor once a week; several measurements are taken and the doctor uses these to best advise you on what to do for the upcoming week. ChiroThin does not have to be used as part of the doctor-supervised program; instead it can just be used for improving your general health.

You should consult your doctor before using this to ensure the program is suitable for you. You should avoid starting the program if you are within 5-6 days of your menstrual cycle; you should not use ChiroThin if using any fertility medications. The product is not recommended for pregnant women; if you become pregnant while taking ChiroThin, stop taking it immediately and consult your doctor.

Who Makes ChiroThin

ChiroThin is manufactured by a company called ChiroNutraceutial. The company is based in Chesterfield, Missouri and appears to have been founded in 2011. It was founded by a group of chiropractors and sells high-end nutritional products exclusively to chiropractors. Since the company’s inception, they claim to have helped over 25,000 people in the US alone. The company’s products are designed to offer solutions for health-related problems that chiropractors’ patients may have.

There is no mention of a money back guarantee, as product prices are not available until you register and confirm you are a chiropractor. The company does seem reputable, given that it was created by chiropractors and has doctors involved in the ChiroThin program. As well as ChiroThin, the company manufactures 11 other health-related products, including Thyroid Support, Immune Support and Chol-Control which is designed to promote steady and normal levels of cholesterol.

Where To Buy ChiroThin

ChiroThin is only sold to chiropractors. In order to purchase the product, you must fill out a form proving you are indeed a chiropractic doctor. Unfortunately, the website does not offer information about pricing options; this information is only available to those who have successfully signed up and registered as chiropractic doctors. When filling out the form, there is a large list of countries all over the world to choose from, so it appears that the company offers worldwide shipping. ChiroThin appears to be available to buy only from the product’s official website; you will not find it in any stores or on any other websites.

Overall Verdict

ChiroThin was created by chiropractors and is sold exclusively to chiropractors to prescribe to their patients. The product can be used by itself or as part of a doctor-supervised program that involves you meeting with a doctor once a week for the six weeks of the course. However, certain bits of important information about the product, such as pricing and a full ingredients list, are not obtainable unless you are able to confirm you are a chiropractor. There is no telling exactly what ingredients contribute to weight loss or what side effects the product can cause.

Down 20 pounds'
18th July by Diane Brownon ChiroThin

I am in my 5th week and have lost 22 pounds so far. I have no side-effects and love the program. We Americans eat way too much. I am learning serving control and that my body does not require all that food I used to eat. I am very pleased with the program.

Worked for me.....'
24th December by LAABon ChiroThin

This was the first program I actually had positive results with and easy to follow. While the product reduced my hunger, I'm always hungry, I also retrained my brain on how I was eating. As the weight melted off I felt successful for a change and more positive towards my lifestyle change. My other doctors were amazed I had so much energy and looked much healthier. I choose to do between 800-1000 calories per day and light exercise as you can be prone to injuries do to low calorie intake. Or I ate extra egg whites in the am to compensate for workouts.
My friend also on the program at under 200lbs didn't have the 30lb weight loss because her body composition was different. That being said our body compositions were measured weekly and her BMI dropped dramatically and she had gained muscle through exercise.
There is risks of losing weight to fast including gallstones. Speak to your doctor. If you've ever thought of radical weight loss surgery I would highly consider trying this option first.
Good luck no matter which journey you take :)

Worth every penny!'
18th July by BKSon ChiroThin

This program really teaches you to measure your food and also what your body truly needs and does not need and what a meaningful portion looks like. It also showed me just how much I was snacking and what that added to my caloric intake daily! I am in my 6th week and should reach my goal of 30lbs gone! I am looking forward to continuing on the Maintenance section and giving my body a full "re-set" to a lower weight. I still have drops left so I will be doing another round to finish them off, after 3 weeks on maintenance to let my body acclimate. I would highly recommend, if you follow this, there is no reason whatsoever that you won't lose 20-35lbs!

Actually worked'
5th July by Elsorbon ChiroThin

When I started the program I was 217lbs. After the 6 weeks my final weigh-in was 195 lbs. I lost 1" from my waist, 2" from my hips, and 2" from my bust. I didn't comply 100% - I was likely at about 700cal/day and I often forgot to take the mid-day drops/spray. The cost through my chiropractor was 400$CAN. I'd do it again.

A review...'
10th June by Steve Staron ChiroThin

It seems that many who review this diet are unrealistic. They are touting the fact that they weigh x number of pounds and are dropping 40, 50, 60 pounds in 6 weeks. That's 7-10 pounds a week. Give me a freakin' break! That is totally unrealistic.
I started this diet at 169.6 pounds. I'm going in to my 4rth week or so and I am down 5 pounds. By the end of the 6th week, I hope to be down to 160 pounds. I'm not sure I will get there, but this seems like a realistic goal.
In summary and in conclusion, I think the diet is useful WITHIN the proper realistic boundaries. A pound or two of weight loss a week is a great goal. Seven to 10 pounds means that you are either a liar or in la la land.

I just started the diet for the last 10 days and lost 7 lbs in the first week it was really hard but I did no cheating drank 60oz of water and ate less then 500 calories for the day. It can be done if you don't cheat and follow the rules of the diet book.

Steve, I understand that your weight loss on the program may have not been as aggressive as others. In my case, I have been on the program One week as of today. I started on Sept. 29th at a weight of 204lbs. Today is Oct. 6th and I am at 194.4lbs. I am pleased with the progress so far and am seeking a goal of 180lbs. I may or may not get there I am not sure. I know I am going to give the program a sincere effort to achieve the goal. I am not a liar or in la la land. Every person's experience may differ depending on how disciplined they are on the program or any other host of reasons.

I just completed my first week of the diet. I am 6 feet tall and my starting weight was 202.6. My weight this morning was 193.2. By rapid calculation that is 9.4 pounds in my first week. I am neither a liar nor am I in la la land. This is my second time on the diet. The first time, approximately 4 months ago, I was on the diet only 19 days. I lost 18 pounds. Not only do you lose weight on this diet, the inflammation in your body is greatly reduced. I am 66 years old and most of my annoying pain and stiffness is gone.

I'm on my 4th week and have lost 21 lbs and my wife has lost 23 lbs. If you follow the program and abide by the doctor's recommendations or modifications, then you will lose the weight. Then the maintenance plan for a couple more weeks should help you keep it off.

IF YOU HAVE A LOT OF WEIGHT TO LOOSE YOU WILL LOOSE MORE THEN A PERSON WHO ONLY HAS A FEW LBS TO LOOSE. DO NOT COMPARE YOURSELF WITH ANY ONE ELSE.. I LOOSE VERY SLOW , BUT i AM Loosing sorry about the capital letters. I did not intend to use capitals.

It should be noted that the statement, "I lost 18 inches and I look great" is deceptive. Most people, when they hear this statement, believe that you lost 18 pounds off your waist because people think of weight loss with regard to their waists and "can I get in my clothes?" What ChiroThin does is take the cumulative number of inches from your calf, hips, waist, bust, and shoulders and adds that up for a total sum. Then, as weeks go by, they take measurements again. It seems odd because it is odd. The measurements that the chiropractic office took and the measurements that I took when I got home were completely different...so those numbers are subjective. It comes down to: I started at _____ pounds and ended at _______ pounds.
