How Bootea Shake Works

Guarana and green tea both contribute to fat burning because they both contain caffeine, which mainly works by sending signals to fat cells ordering them to break down. It also works to burn fat by stimulating the central nervous system and increase levels of epinephrine, which is also known as adrenaline, in the bloodstream. Whenever levels of epinephrine are increase, fat cells start breaking down – this happens because epinephrine travels along the bloodstream to the fat tissues and sends them signals ordering them to break down. The main way in which Bootea Shake targets weight loss is by suppressing appetite. It is able to do so simply because it contains two ingredients that contribute to appetite suppression: guarana and glucomannan. It contains two other active ingredients, green tea and guarana – these two do not actively contribute to appetite suppression and Bootea Shake does not claim to target any other area of weight loss, so this review will concentrate on glucomanan as the sole active ingredient.

Glucomannan contains a high concentration of soluble dietary fibre; as glucomannan passes through the digestive tract, the soluble fibre in it absorbs water. Whenever it interacts with water, the water causes it to swell. This happens in the stomach, which then causes the sensation of feeling full. The user will therefore not feel the need to have to eat anything else. More research is needed, however, to further validate these weight loss claims.

Guarana is claimed to have appetite suppressant properties. Not all authoritative websites mention guarana’s appetite suppressant properties because there is a lack of clinical research on them. Guarana is mainly associated with its high concentration of caffeine. Guarana is known for increasing mental alertness, stamina and physical endurance; it also helps combat fatigue. Perhaps some of the ingredients linked with these properties may help suppress appetite. Until further tests are done, it cannot be said for certain how guarana targets appetite suppression.

There is some evidence to suggest that caffeine, which is found in both guarana and green tea, can target metabolism boosting. Caffeine releases neurotransmitters, which are linked with increasing energy levels and boosting metabolism. It is thought that caffeine is able to boost metabolism by as much as 3-11% in this way. Some studies have produced even greater results with higher concentrations of caffeine used, though higher doses are not recommended for consumption. The effects caffeine can have on metabolism have been shown to be less pronounced in people who are obese.

There have been no clinical studies carried out on Bootea Shake as a whole product. Clinical studies are designed to find out how safe and effective a product is before it is made available for public consumption. Studies are carried out using volunteers, who are made to understand any known risks and are free to withdraw from studies at any time and for any reason. A proper study should be carried out on at least a few dozen people to ensure a more accurate pool of results.

The Bootea website does not mention clinical studies on any of its products. However, there are clinical studies on some of the ingredients in Bootea Shake, so looking at them gives us an idea as to whether Bootea Shake is effective or not. The best way is to look at clinical studies on the whole product, but when these are not available, the next best step is to look at studies on individual ingredients.

Clinical Studies On Glucomannan

With regards to clinical studies on glucomannan, there have been some studies carried out to determine its effectiveness at causing weight loss, however, websites such as WebMD state that more evidence is needed to consolidate these claims. This is something that happens quite often with diet pill ingredients: just because there are one or two studies that produce good results, that does not equal solid clinical evidence. Usually sites claim that more evidence is needed because the studies that do exist have not been carried out on enough people or the studies’ results have not been outstandingly positive. Having said all that, the few studies on glucomannan have produced quite good results on the whole and it is likely that more studies will product similar results.

This review was carried out to collect and analyse results from a wide variety of different studies on glucomannan. An overview of glucomannan is given and it is explained how it works to promote the feeling of satiety in the stomach. Of the studies reviewed, seven of them were solely concerned with glucomannan’s short-term effect on weight loss. From these results, the conclusion drawn was that glucomannan’s properties may be able to help with weight loss when the user is on a normal or low-calorie diet. Studies conducted over periods of 3-4 months resulted in mostly overweight or obese participants each losing a significant amount of weight.

It should be noted that of the seven studies that were focused on weight loss, six of them involved obese or overweight participants, while the seventh had hypertensive outpatients recruited. It is clear from the results obtained from these studies that glucomannan can contribute to weight loss, though it is uncertain whether it works as effectively in people who are not overweight, obese or who are hypertensive outpatients. While weight loss supplements are commonly used by people who are overweight or obese, they are also used by people whose weight is perfectly normal, so hopefully there will be studies that show glucomannan can work just as effectively for people of a normal weight.

The review also mentions the optimal dosage of glucomannan of 1g three times a day. While you are meant to take Bootea Shake three times a day, the ingredients list does not reveal the quantities of each ingredient, so it is uncertain whether you are getting the recommended amount of glucomannan or not.

The review concludes by saying that glucomannan produced good weight loss results and had a limited number of adverse effects. One cause for concern is the fact that the studies were conducted at least 10 years ago; the more recent a study is, the more accurate its results are likely to be thanks to developments in technology and study design. Another cause for concern is the five studies that had weight loss a secondary goal: these showed no noticeable reduction in body weight and it is assumed that this was because the studies lasted no longer than four weeks. Bearing that in mind, it could be concluded that it takes four weeks or so for the effects of glucomannan to start showing.

On the whole, the clinical evidence supporting glucomannan’s weight loss properties does show promise, though there is a need for more recent studies and studies on people who a of a normal weight.

Clinical Studies On Guarana

Guarana is taken because it has a significantly high concentration of caffeine. However, according to WebMD, guarana itself has not been studied extensively; the site concludes that guarana’s weight loss properties are uncertain. There is one study, however, which does go some way to show guarana can help with weight loss. The purpose of this study was to determine the short-term safety and weight loss potential of a particular herbal supplement on obese humans. The two key ingredients in this supplement were guarana and ma huang. The study lasted eight weeks and was a randomised, double-blind placebo controlled study. For this study 67 participants were recruited; the group consisted of obese men and women. Of these participants, 35 took the herbal supplement, with the remaining 35 taking a placebo. A total of 48 participants – 24 from each of the two groups – completed the study. Once the eight weeks had passed, the results showed that those who had been taking the herbal supplement had in fact lost more body fat and overall weight in comparison to the placebo group. Some of the participants noticed a reduction in their hip circumference. While the study’s results were on the whole quite positive, it was concluded that the herbal supplement was only good for short-term body fat and weight loss and that it is uncertain whether this supplement would have the same effects over a longer period of time. The problem with this study is that it did not focus on guarana by itself, though the positive results cannot be ignored.

Clinical Studies On Green tea

There have been a good number of clinical studies carried out on green tea, though the key problem is that these studies produce quite mixed results when put together. As explained I further detail on WebMD, some studies have produced quite good results, whereas others have produced results that are not as encouraging.

One of the studies with positive results is linked here. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of a green tea extract rich in caffeine and catechin polyphenols on weight loss. In particular this study looked at the effects of this extract on 24-hour energy expenditure in humans and fat oxidation, to see whether the extract increased any of these or not. A total of 10 males were recruited and on three separate occasions each one was given caffeine, a green tea extract or a placebo. It was eventually found that whenever the green tea extract was taken, the energy expenditure levels in the men increased by 4% of a 24-hour period. It was therefore concluded that green tea can help to promote fat oxidation in the body and that it does have thermogenic properties. Because of this, it may play a key role in body composition.

Another study was carried out to determine the effects of green tea on weight loss, though this was a more general study and consisted of pooling together the results of a number of different studies. The conclusions drawn from this analysis, however, were not as positive as the conclusion drawn from the previous study mentioned. It was concluded that green tea does have the ability to instigate weight loss in adults who are obese or overweight, but the amount of weight that people lose is not statistically significant. In other words, on the whole people have lost weight, but the amount of weight lost is not enough to say that green tea is good at causing weight loss. This is a similar conclusion to what is on WebMD. With regards to weight maintenance, it was concluded that green tea does not have any noticeable effect on this.

Bootea Shake Side Effects

The Bootea Shake website makes no mention of any side-effects whatsoever. Looking at the ingredients list, Bootea Shake does seem to be quite a safe product, as only a few of its ingredients have side-effects associated with them and these side-effects are more than likely to be minor, if they are experienced at all.

The website also does not reveal full ingredient quantities. This is problematic because it is uncertain whether the recommended dose is used for each ingredient. It is very likely, of course, that the recommended doses are used, but there is always a chance that there might be too much of an ingredient in the formula, in which case its side-effects will have a greater chance of occurring.

Side Effects Associated With Glucomannan

According to WebMD, glucomannan is possibly safe when used as a medicinal product in adults and children for a period of no longer than four months. No mention is given of any specific side-effects, though it is mentioned that people with diabetes should monitor their blood sugar levels closely if taking glucomannan because it can affect blood sugar levels. Likewise, people who are due to or have just had surgery should avoid glucomannan for this reason.

More information about side-effects is given on drugs.com. It mentions how glucomannan has been linked with conditions including occupational asthma and cholestatic hepatitis. The site also mentions a few minor side-effects, including flatulence, bloating and diarrhoea that are reported to be linked with glucomannan.

Side Effects Associated With Green Tea

Green tea contains caffeine, which has been linked to a few different side-effects. Caffeine is a stimulant and is known to cause the following side-effects: jitteriness, nervousness, stomach problems, vomiting, nausea, insomnia, restlessness and increased heart rate. It can also cause headaches, chest pains and anxiety if it is taken in higher doses. Another problem with caffeine is that it can become addictive, though the body can learn to become tolerant to its effects quite quickly. People who are particularly sensitive to caffeine could experience nausea, though this particular side-effect can subside after a short while once the body has adapted to the regular intake of stimulants. If any of these side-effects do not subside after a few days or if they worsen, you should probably consult a doctor as a precaution.

As regards clinical evidence of caffeine’s side-effects, results are quite mixed. This study found that caffeine can have a negative impact on sleep, while this one reported minor and transient side-effects, with no withdrawal symptoms found among the participants. Finally this study concluded that caffeine’s weight loss benefits outweigh the small chance of side-effects occurring when taking it. Furthermore, it was said that any side-effects experienced throughout the course of the study were mild and transient.

Side Effects Associated With Guarana Extract

As guarana extract contains caffeine, it can cause all of the same side-effects that green tea can cause. There is a greater chance of guarana causing side-effects, simply because guarana has a higher concentration of caffeine in it than green tea. Because of this high concentration of caffeine, guarana is thought to be potentially unsafe it is regularly consumed over a long period of time or if it is consumed in high enough doses. Guarana has been linked with nervousness and excessive insomnia. Another consequence of guarana’s higher concentration is that people who consume it regularly may experience caffeine withdrawal symptoms if they decrease their regular intake or stop consuming it altogether.

How To Use Bootea Shake

Bootea Shake appears to be very easy to use. All you have to do is to mix one sachet of powder with a 250ml glass of water. This mix should be taken in between meals in order to effectively reduce hunger and appetite. It is said on the official website that you should be taking three sachets a day; presumably you should take one between breakfast and lunch, one between lunch and dinner and a third between dinner and bedtime. You should also have 1-2 glasses before each main meal while using Bootea Shake. You can use Bootea Shake alongside Bootea Teatox or on its own.

As with any weight loss supplement, this is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding or anyone under the age of 18. Because of its high caffeine content, this is not recommended for anyone who is particularly sensitive to caffeine. Because of its high sugar content, people with type 2 diabetes should probably avoid using it. As a precaution, you should consult your doctor before using this if you have a pre-existing medical condition or if you are taking any sort of medication.

Overall Verdict

Bootea Shake claims to be the perfect shake to help you lose weight. As well as containing a number of vitamins and minerals, it also contains glucomannan, which does have some clinical evidence supporting its weight loss claims. The clinical evidence, however, is from over 10 years ago and mainly focuses on overweight and obese participants; what would be ideal is recent clinical evidence focusing on people of a range of weight groups, though the clinical evidence that currently exists does show some promise. The company does try to get people signed up to an auto-shipment scheme and does not provide full ingredient quantities. On the whole Bootea Shake does seem like a good weight loss supplement to try, though be wary enough to avoid the auto-shipment scheme.

I found that the daytime detox worked quite well, though the night detox didn’t work quite as well. It left me feeling quite uncomfortable and I couldn’t sleep as well as I normally do because of it.
